A Visit From Jamma

Saturday, July 14, 2012

Rylee's grandma (Sevio's mom), or Jamma as we call her, arrived Thursday evening and stayed with us until today. We've had a great time relaxing enjoying the lakes, Saturday market, live evening entertainment, and baseball!

I love when we get to see Jamma because we always try to do new things with her and play tourist like going to the trendy new restuarants, or different attractions in the Victoria area. This time we got to treat her and do it in our neck of the woods!

Friday morning Sevio took her to Barb's Bakery & Bistro for breakfast (home of my favorite crispy potato rosti) while I was working. In the afternoon heat we hung out on the shores of one of the lakes.  Afterwards we headed to the ball field where Jamma hung out with Rylee while we played, and won by the way! After ball we went downtown to have some appy's and take in some live music down on the waterfront, it was lovely!

Today we made Jamma breakfast, chorizo sausage with grilled tomatoes and toast (her fave), and then headed out to have a little visit with Sevio's great-grandma, who at the remarkable age of 99 is not doing so well. Around noon we braved the mayhem downtown to be tourists in the Saturday market looking at all the amazing crafts, products, and eating lots of the delicious food including fudge, goat-cheese, and fruit popsicles!

Our time with Jamma went way too quickly but I'm so glad we got to spend a few days with her to catch up and enjoy each others company and more importantly for her and Rylee to have plenty of time to bond. Sadly once we move to the mainland our visits with Jamma aren't going to be as easy or frequent, so hopefully before we jump the pond we can get one more visit in.
