Christmas Eve

What are some of your Christmas Eve traditions?

This year we kept one tradition alive, one we've adopted from Sevio's family. We all sat down to listen to Sevio paraphrase the Christmas story of Jesus' birth and read from the bible 1 Corinthians 11:23‐28 (where Jesus shares in the first ever communion with his disciples), after which we all shared in communion together.

We finished up the night with some last minute present wrapping, stuffing of stockings (which for Sevio and I are actually Santa hats), and family snuggles watching a Christmas movie.

Can't wait till the morning to crank the Christmas tunes, drink hot chocolate, eat candy canes, skype with family back home, and watch Rylee's little eyes fill with delight as she opens her gifts!

Christmas #2

It's only the middle of January so posting more Christmas pictures isn't too late...right?!? 

These pictures are from actual Christmas morning which we spent with my side of the family. It was a wonderful morning spent with family. We opened stocking and presents first, which my mom totally surprised me with a brand new sewing machine and all the doo-dads needed to get started! Sevio got Wii games, headphones, Under Armour gear, Dominion (board game)...and more. And Rylee got some gosh darn cute cowboy boots, a multitude of legwarmers, a ring stacker, clothes, bath toys, and much more that I can't remember now that its been so long!

After presents my mom made us our traditional Christmas morning breakfast, eggs benny with back bacon. By the time brekky was finished it had started to snow! It was the perfect white Christmas you always dream about...but doesn't happen very often out here on the West Coast. In the afternoon we played Ticket To Ride with my sister and dad and prepped for the awesome Turkey dinner.

The whole day was perfect! It was so relaxing to not have to go/be anywhere and just spend the day enjoying each others company. And now I promise this is the end of Christmas... until next year!

Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas

As I was driving around today I realized its beginning to look an awful like Christmas around town. With candy canes and trees hanging from lamp posts, lights on houses, and festive displays in storefront windows. Not to mention the jumbo sized snowflakes, gift boxes, and Christmas trees in the mall

We also ran into somebody today, Rylee's met him once before ...but this time she wasn't too fond of him and needed mommy nearby. With the help of some kind women they nearly got a smile out of her....they definitely got a smile out of me, a little bit too much of smile haha.

All of it makes me happy, I love Christmas, this time of year makes me feel all warm and bubbly inside. It's important, it holds so much meaning (apart from the outrageous consumer mentality), and I look forward to sharing the true meaning of Christmas with Rylee one day and starting our own family traditions ...like sitting in the dark with the lights glowing in the windows sipping hot chocolate, watching old Christmas classics over and over again (Rudolph is my personal fave), and much much more!
