The Mommy Tag

I've saw this post the other day by Kerry on Oh So Amelia and thought it'd be fun to join in. Here's a few fun questions to help you get a look into my life as a mom!

1. Are you a Stay at Home Mum, or a Working Mum?
I am a stay at home mom currently and love it. Next fall, however, l I will most likely be looking for some part time work while my husband is completing his 4th year studies.

2. Would you have it any other way?
If we could afford for me to be a full time mom then that's the way I'd keep it. But I'm not gonna lie, a day or two, even if it is working, sounds like a breath of fresh air right now. Something about being holed up in a tiny apartment with two tiny people really makes you crave the outside world and grown up conversations.

3. Do you co-sleep?
Right now we all sleep together, two adults 1 toddler and 1 infant in a double bed! Rylee will start the night on her own little mat but quite often I'm being poked in the head and she's crawling up into our bed. In the beginning with Rylee we co-slept till she started rolling, around 4 months, and then moved her to a crib. She didn't officially stay in her own bed all night until she was a year and half though. With Zach it'll be the same deal, he'll be sleeping with us for sure until we return to Canada (he'll be 3 and half months) and then we'll see how he copes with his own bed, and until he's sleeping all night I'm sure he will be making frequent visits to our bed.

4. What is your one must-have item for your baby?
Our ERGObaby carrier! Rylee would fall asleep in minutes in that thing when she was younger, and Zach seems to be the same. It's a life saver for those problematic naptimes, when they don't want to be put down I can just stick them in the ERGO and they get to snuggle with me and I get the use of my two hands again! It's also great for all normal uses too!

5. How many kids do you plan on having?
We always have said we will see how much love we are able to give. Right now we have two and it's great but need a little more time and a better idea of our future before we can say we're ready to handle more. Personally I wouldn't mind one more, but I've also been playing with the idea of adopting, so who knows...

6. Date night? How many nights per month?
We used to be pretty good at one date night a month, but since being overseas it's a little difficult since we don't have friends or family to call on for babysitting. I think once we get back home we'll definitely get back to having date nights and with a much greater appreciation!

7. Your childs favourite show?
Rylee doesn't watch TV shows but she does like a few movies. Right now her favourite is Disney's latest princess flick, Frozen. Other favourites include Cars, Happy Feet, and Cinderella.

8. Name one thing you bought before you had your baby and never ended up using?
Oh man its hard to remember back to two years ago... we were given so much that I didn't end up buying much. I do remember I bought a beautiful baby sling in Guatemala with the best of intentions to use but it was awkward and uncomfortable and I just ended up selling it. This time around we bought little booties/mitts/and a hat and have barely used them...those mitts and booties are impossible to keep on a squirmy newborn!

9. Your child’s favourite food?
Rylee's current fave food is peanut butter and jam sandwiches, I think if she had the choice she would eat them for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. And well Zach he's easy... "Booba" (aka breastmilk).

10. How many cars does your family have?
One, our little economic Chevy Aveo. It'll be crammed adding another carseat to it, but we'll make it work!

11. Weight gain before pregnancy, during and after and now?
With Rylee I gained around 35lbs and it took me a good year to get it off. Before Zach I was sitting about 5lbs lighter than my "normal" weight. With Zach I gained about 22lbs and have basically lost it all and it hasn't even been a month! I think the breastfeeding and ridiculous amount of walking we do has helped speed up the weight loss.

12. Dream holiday with your kids?
I dream of the day we can take the kids to Disneyland! I actually don't know if I can wait 5/6 years till their old enough to ride the rides, but boy oh boy it's gonna be amazing when the time does come!

13. Dream holiday without your kids?
I've told Sevio our next vacation needs to be Hawaii, we both love it there, but then again I would love to take the kids there too! So if it was the ultimate dream holiday it would be one of those all inclusive resorts somewhere in the caribbean where we don't have to worry about anything and can just enjoy all the amenities, beaches, and great food!

14. How has your life changed since your baby has been born?
I wouldn't say my life has changed a whole lot, we still do a lot of the same things just with a baby on board. I would say I've become a lot more serious than I once was (or ever was) and I can't sleep in past 8am...

15. Finish the sentence: 'It makes my heart melt to see … '
When Rylee runs over to Zach when he cries, puts her face right in his face and says, "Shhh", and then gives him a hug and kiss... totally adorable!

16. Where do you shop for your kids?
Thift stores and consignment stores (who needs to pay full price for clothes that last a few months?), and if theres something specific I'm looking for Childrens Place, or Joe. And for something special, birthdays, or Christmas, I love Thrive Lifestyle from our hometown.

17. Favourite makeup and skincare products?
Well I'm really not much of girl who wears makeup (I don't do it because I have no idea how to use it!). But for skincare I use Clinique's 3 step skincare line, my favourite of the three being their "Dramatically Different" moisturizing lotion.

18. Huggies or Pampers?
Neither... I'm one of those hippy moms who is into cloth diapering! I'm very much looking forward to getting back home and getting Zach's bum into our Bummi's and Fuzzibunz, and Rylee in her Tender Tushies trainers.

19. Have you always wanted kids?
Yes! Funny story I had this grand plan my whole life of getting married at 20 and then having my first kid by 22. My dream came true four years late for each, but really the timing was perfect and I wouldn't have it any other way.

20. Best part about being a mum?
Watching these kids develop their little (but big) personalities and talents. And all the snuggles!!
