Elephant Show

Series 3 of 5 from our day playing tourists!

After the rickety ox cart ride we made our way over to find some good seats for the elephant show! Rylee at this point was starting to lose her grip, hunger and tiredness were becoming an apparent need for this child. But with the distraction of playing with the camera and dancing elephants we were able to get through the show without any major meltdowns, thank goodness!

There were about 10 elephants ranging from the ages 4‐14 years old who came out to preform their tricks. They greeted us, painted pictures (better than Sevio could ever paint), played soccer and basketball, danced, and even pretended to sleep (note the picture of them lying down, they're not dead I promise!).

After the show we got to indulge ourselves with a delicious buffet lunch before heading down to the river for our next event... bamboo rafting!

Series 2 of 5 from our escape from the city!

After elephant riding we immediately jumped onto our next mode of transportation, an ox cart! We were pulled along on a rickety wooden cart by two strong oxen! It was definitely a smoother ride compared to the elephants and a little bit more exhilarating in the sense that I felt like at any given moment we were going to fall through the cart into the muck! It was a short ride, maybe 10 to 15 minutes but it was a fun experience.

Escape From The City!

Sunday, September 15, 2013

Yesterday we got to get out of the city and play tourists for a day! So exciting... I can't tell you how good it felt for us small town island folk to get a breath of fresh air and see some greenery!

We did a variety of different activities including: elephant riding, an ox-cart ride, elephant show, buffet lunch, bamboo rafting, and visited a hill tribe village! It was a long day as you can imagine but fun none-the-less! I will do a series of blogs to document the day, there are just too many pictures to post in one blog!

So first up will be our first adventure: elephant riding!!

Rylee was a bit nervous at first getting on and even throughout the ride she sat very still taking it all in, however, every time we saw a baby elephant she piped up and would say, "Baby, BABIEEEE!"

It was probably about a 20 minute ride in total where we trudged through muck, passed by a rice paddy, crossed a bridge, climbed a hill, and came to our final landing where we disembarked and went on to our next event... Ox-Cart Riding! (stay tuned for next blog)
