Review : Sunbaby Cloth Diapers

As many of you know right from the get go we decided to cloth diaper, with all three of our kids. Apart from our time in Thailand our kiddos butts have been cushioned by the likes of Bummi's, FuzziBunz, Sloomb, and now Sunbaby! 

I first came upon Sunbaby when a good friend of mine passed two on to Zach for his 1st birthday. It was love at first sight, honestly! The designs were so great, and the inner lining and inserts were so cushy! I was just like little Agnes from Despicable Me with her unicorn... "It's so fluffy!!!"

So before Adelyne was born I talked Sevio into restocking some our tired stash. With cloth diapering  you'll find that in the long run its very cost effective, especially when your using them for multiple kids. But when it comes to replacing or starting from scratch you'd be amazed at what your total can end up being with some diaper brands. I mean $24 for one diaper... yikes! So when I learned that Sunbaby diapers are crazy affordable, and even more so if you buy in bulk, I was jumping in my boots!

With much excitement I went online and picked out twelve designs and paid a mere $66 US with free shipping! (at the time our Canadian dollar was doing a little bit better... thank goodness)

When our fluff mail arrived I was just so stoked to see all the cute patterns I picked out and to feel more of their beautiful fluffiness. Seriously, I imagine its like sitting in a cloud!

As time as shown with Zach wearing the two we were given and now Adelyne with these new ones I'm still super happy. Sometimes you have to spend more to get quality but not in this case, these baby's clean up great and hold their fluffiness! I've been so pleased and I think they've been one great investment for our kids butts!

Fluff Mail

Recently we received a very exciting parcel, something known in the cloth diapering world as fluff mail!

For Rylee's birthday I wanted to get her some new night-time diapers as the ones she has are on the verge of being too small. I spent a lot of time researching a good quality diaper that would be super absorbent, fitted, and will last hopefully until potty training days. Finally after reading a lot of reviews, asking a lot of questions from fellow cloth diaper momma's, and overcoming the unbearable desire to purchase every cute diaper I came across, I finally found an awesome cloth diapering company called "Sustainablebabyish" (aka sbish).

In the parcel were 6 snapless sbish cloth diapers. When I pulled out the first diaper from the parcel I gave it to Rylee which she grabbed onto with pure excitement. She had a huge smile on her face as she hugged it close to her chest. She then turned and ran away with it, found a place to sit and played with this new soft delightful diaper putting it around her neck and on her head.

These diaps are awesome! They are a heavy organic bamboo/cotton terry cloth. Each diaper also comes with two 3-layer organic bamboo fleece inserts for extra absorbancy. They have a trim body (perfect for our tiny Rylee) and the long wings allow for a custom fit and quick change as you only need one pin to secure it. At first when I was looking into these diapers I was extremely hesitant to use pins in fear of stabbing myself and squirmy Rylee. I sided with the snapless because of their ability to provide a fit, since Rylee is so tiny its hard for the diapers with snaps to fit properly around her legs (thus creating quick leaks).

I also purchased a knit wool cover, which is necessary for these diapers and when they are paired together it creates a wonderful leak-free combination. The cover is my favourite color, purple, and are soft, stretchy, breathable, durable, and ultra-absorbant. At first it seemed like they would become quite the chore since you have to lanolize and wash them by hand. But I think now that I've done it and know what I'm doing it's not going to be that much of a bother, and I only have to wash them every few weeks.

And an added perk to finding such great diapers is that its a great company, not only are their diapers organic but for each diaper you buy a tree is planted! And although the wool covers are made in China, they are made in a socially and environmentally responsible knit house. The knit line is also a part of the one diaper-one tree program and their handtags are plantable which means no packaging waste and you and your baby get to plant and watch your flowers grow.

 

Pay It Forward

The other day I came across a little giveaway contest on a local cloth diaper exchange on facebook. A woman had a pair of Sustainablebabish Wool Longies that she was given and wanted to return the favor and "pay it forward" with the only stipulation for whoever won that they would do the same.

In my 26 years I've come to accept the fact I'm a genuine loser when it comes to contests, but I figured what the heck and threw my name in the hat. The next day I got this notification from a stranger tagging me to something...weird. Not weird, fantastic... I WON!!! I was so excited, I'm still so excited and seriously...its such a good win! These little pants are not cheap, they are like the bees knees of cloth diapers and wool covers and extra bonus they're eco-friendly :)

Conveniently I just made an order last week for this brand of diapers and am expecting them in the mail any day now and needed a size small in some sort of wool cover for extra nighttime leak protection but couldn't afford buying one but clearly God knows our needs and BAM just like that he provides!
