A New Summer Tradition

Wednesday, September 10, 2014

Upon arrival to our new home in the Fraser Valley we took full advantage of blueberry season. We spent one afternoon in the blazing heat picking blueberries at a local farm. This has been on my summer bucket list for years and I was SOOO excited...I think more so than Rylee to finally do it!

We picked till our basket was heaping, and Rylee picked till her tummy was full (I think maybe five blueberries made it into the basket from her...). Papa would be proud, Rylee indulged in blueberry after blueberry, handful by handful, he created a blueberry monster!

After we were done we checked out some of the baby animals on display (goats, pigs, and cows) and made sure we brought home a mixed tub of fresh made coconut, strawberry, and lime ice cream! I can't wait till next summer, this is definitely going to become a family tradition!

Summer In A Nutshell

Monday, August 18, 2014

I'm just going to go right out and say it, this summer has been gong show!

I think we have done every major event possible (some a few times over) in the period of 3 months... a funeral, bridal showers, baby shower (and soon the birth of our lil' niece), 2 weddings (and one more to go, Sevio's birthday, our anniversary, my 10 year reunion, we moved, and last but not least, Sevio started a pre-course today as part of his fourth year studies.

So like I said... life has been crazy and as I'm surrounded by moving boxes I feel like its the first time in the last couple months where I actually feel relaxed. Finally we're in our a place of our own, and a place that has room enough for all of us (a rarity in the 4 years we've been together)! Even though this year will be just as crazy with Sevio in full time studies, two kids, and me hopefully with a part-time job  I'm actually really looking forward to being in one place for at least a year.... ahhh stability!

I'm excited that I am going to have time to blog again, and catch up on all the pictures from the past months sitting in Iphoto that I just haven't had the chance to post!  So to start off here's a few pictures from a few weeks ago when Rylee's cousin came to visit and we spent the day in town at the park, playing on firetrucks, and of course...ICE CREAM!!!

Camp Bound

Monday, July 16, 2012

Our bags are packed...

Sevio headed over to direct a youth camp yesterday and me and Rylee are going to visit today which is earlier and longer than expected. I was just planning to do some day visits throughout the week because I had to work on Thursday but I got the day off and am now able to spend the rest of the week there!

Stay tuned for pictures and a blog all about it when we return over the weekend!

Fun in the Sun

Friday, July 6, 2012

Today we had another gorgeous day and spent a good chunk of it outdoors.

Rylee had fun playing and crawling about in the grass....

Playing with her Daddy flying and doing crazy stunts. . .

and learning to drink water and loving every minute of it!

My sweet, sweet smiley Rylee.

The Beginning of Something Great.

and so it begins...
SUMMER!

Yesterday we had our first day real warm day full of sunshine, and let me tell you...it was wonderful! We took Rylee up to my parents house in the afternoon and we set up the tent attachment to her playpen to hide her from the sun and then we all took to the outdoors!

Sevio read, I knitted, Grandpa gardened, Grandma lounged with us, and Rylee scooted herself around playing with miscellaneous toys in her playpen. With the siding rolled up and the top on the playpen Rylee totally looked like a little caged animal, shes never really played in it before so the mesh siding was a bit amusing because she would come up and look at us and then mash her head into it.

Then came the best time of the day...BBQ'in time! First one of the season, with many more to come. My Brother showed up with his son just as the smorgasbord of flavors was being placed on the table. We had steaks, burgers, smokies, and delicious smoked wild salmon, veggies, and yummy watermelon!

It was a great day surrounded by family and sun without a care in the world. I love summer.

Baby Beluga

Monday, April 30, 2012

When Rylee was still in the womb we called her baby Beluga, and when she was overdue I would sing to her my own rendition of "Baby Beluga,"

"Baby Beluga,
swimmin' in the deep blue sea
Baby Beluga,
when ya gonna come see me."

I know, I know I'm a poetic genius! Anyways, the point I'm getting at here is I think Rylee is going to be a water loving baby. She was born in the water, she LOVES bath time, and she loves the pool.

Last Friday we took her to the pool in Nanaimo, and shes getting big enough now that we can put her in those floating fish things with built in seats for babies, so cute. And its at the pool that you see her little social butterfly personality come out, with all the noise and commotion of kids running and splashing around, she just swivels her head this way and that staring at everything that's going on around her.

I can't wait till summer when we can go hang out at the lake all day and Rylee can sit in her cute little swimsuit on the edge of the water splashing and playing with other kids making mud and building sand castles!
